| 2002/485 PC access control board |
| Can I use this system via a LAN or WAN network? Not with this version, the system communication is via RS232/485. For LAN/WAN you will require either of our 2001/2002 or 2004.net versions for this Can I configure a multi door system as you only have 2 door control systems available? Yes you can, simply by adding extra access control cards and card readers to your order can you configure whatever system size you require. You would simply 'loop' or 'daisy chain' the control cards together How many control cards can I add? A maximum of 256 Can I use a card reader as an exit device in place of an exit button? Yes, you can use either or both, but please note that this system package is only supplied with 1 or 2 x card reader/s. You will need to add an extra card reader and/or exit button/s if required Can I use a finger print reader? Yes you can, please email us for the instructions Do you supply finger print readers? Not at this present time. We supply two types of card reader using EM-RFID technology. The standard card reader is ABS plastic and our R3 card reader is vandal resistant You supply only a 9 pin serial cable but I have a 25 pin serial connector, what do I do? It's impossible to allow for all pc system configurations, with some having a 25 pin, some having a 9 pin and some having none at all, therefore we have left the 9 pin serial cable as standard and you would need to buy an adaptor for this - we would suggest a USB to 9 pin serial convertor which should be no more than £10-£15 but we would also suggest purchasing a good quality convertor What cable distances can the system operate to? The card reader/s should be no more than 90mtr from the card reader to the control board The RS232/485 data convertor should be within 3mtr from the PC The furthest control board should be no more than 1000mtr What cable do I need? We would suggest between 6 core and 8 core shielded twisted pair alarm cable at the very least or quality cable such as Belden 9536 shielded cable for best results Does the control board and software monitor who enters the door and who exits the door? Yes it does, even the use of an exit button I have some existing Mifare cards/ key fobs, will they work with this system? Mifare cards/key fobs will not work with our card readers as they are RFID readers, however, if you have Mifare card readers then the software will recognise them Where do the control cards fit? They are supplied and fitted within the power supply, you do not install them within a computer How easy is it to set up/install the software? Easy, the software works with any version of operating system you may have and can be operational within 15 minutes, however, it is recommended that you have a confident amount of IT/computer skills Do I need the PC on all the time, and what happens in the event of a power failure? No, you don't need the PC on all the time as the control board will retain up to 100,000 transactions for offline use - it will then overwrite the first transaction should the power failure continue In saying that, if there is a total power failure then you should consider battery back-up for the installed equipment connected to the control board within the supplied power supply as obviously the control board will not be able to retain transactions and the controlled doors will not be secure As a rule of thumb, a typical single door system with 1 x magnetic lock will last on a 7amp battery back-up for 3-4hrs depending upon the demand of use Can I fit a battery in the power supply? I'm afraid not, it is a narrow style cabinet for the control board only |
