Troubleshooting & FAQs
Why is the magnet running hot? "Power to Lock" devices like magnetic locks will naturally feel warm due to the constant power they require. However, excessive heat is usually caused by:
- Voltage Mismatch: Using a 24V DC power supply for a magnet wired for 12V DC operation.
- Insufficient Current: The power supply may not provide enough amperage, or a long cable run with an inadequate wire gauge can cause a voltage drop, forcing the magnet to work harder and overheat.
Why is the armature plate vibrating? This typically points to an under-rated or faulty power supply. It can also occur if the magnet is wired for 24V DC but is connected to a 12V DC power supply.
Why won't the magnet lock properly? The most common reasons for a weak hold are:
- Misalignment: The armature plate is not correctly aligned with the magnet's surface.
- Power Issues: The power supply is faulty, under-rated, or there is a voltage mismatch (e.g., 12V supply for a 24V setup).
