Description & Specifications:

AC8001 PC-Based Access Control System

Overview

The AC8001 is a sophisticated, single-door access control system designed for LAN/WAN environments. Operating on Windows systems (from XP to 11, including tablets, laptops, and desktops), it offers a powerful solution for monitoring entry and exit for up to 20,000 users.

Packed with professional features, the AC8001 supports Time & Attendance recording, Timed Profiles, Real-Time Monitoring, Keypad operation, Anti-Tailgating, and Anti-Passback. You can instantly add or delete users and lock out access when needed. The system generates comprehensive reports exportable to Excel and stores up to 100,000 offline transactions, ensuring data integrity during power outages (requires battery backup).

Ideal for clubs, schools, offices, gyms, and more, the AC8001 is a simple, expandable, and future-proof system. Setup is plug-and-play: connect the controller to your PC's Ethernet port, a router for a Local Area Network (LAN), or use an internet connection for Wide Area Network (WAN) and Cloud access.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • What operating system does the software use? The software is Windows-based (XP to 11, including Windows Server) and can be operational within 15 minutes. Connection is typically via an Ethernet router for a LAN, or through port forwarding for a WAN (internet) connection. The software can also be installed in the Cloud.

  • Can the software use SQL? Yes. While it uses a Microsoft Database by default, it can be easily configured to use SQL. See page 63 of the AC8000 Setup Guide for instructions.

  • Is there an extra cost or subscription for the software? No. The software is included with the system at no extra charge, and there are no annual subscription fees.

  • Does the system monitor both entry and exit? Yes, provided you install a card reader for both entry and exit points.

  • How can I create a multi-door system? Simply add more control cards and readers to your order. Connect the additional control cards to your router or hub and add them within the software. There is no limit to the number of control systems you can add.

  • Can I use a card reader instead of an exit button? Yes, you can use a card reader, an exit button, or both.

  • Can I use a fingerprint reader? Yes, fingerprint readers are compatible. Please email us for simple setup instructions.

  • What is the maximum cable distance for card readers? Card readers should be no more than 80-90 meters from the control board. For best results, we recommend using 6-core to 8-core shielded twisted-pair alarm cable or a quality cable like Belden 9536. Do not use CAT5/6 cable, as it will significantly reduce the operational distance and may cause interference.

  • Will my existing cards/fobs work? Our readers are Wiegand 125khz EM-RFID readers and are not compatible with Mifare cards/fobs. However, if you have existing Mifare readers, the software will recognise them, allowing you to continue using your Mifare cards/fobs.

  • Where are the control cards installed? The control cards are supplied with self-adhesive pads for you to mount inside the power supply enclosure.

  • Does the PC need to be on all the time? No. The control card will store up to 100,000 transactions offline. If the transaction buffer is full, it will begin overwriting the oldest data, so it's important to periodically download transactions to your computer.

  • Can a backup battery fit in the power supply cabinet? Yes, a battery can be installed. The available space will depend on the number of control cards housed within the cabinet.
